Food Pantry

The City of Stoughton's Food Pantry Mission is to assist those in need of food who reside in the Stoughton Area School District.

 General Information:

The City of Stoughton Food Pantry serves clients residing within the Stoughton Area School District. The Food Pantry follows state and federal guidelines on income levels to qualify for The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) or commodities distribution. If a resident is not eligible under the income guidelines, emergency food is available upon referral. Referral agencies are First Call for Help, Dane County Human Services, Head Start, Stoughton Area School District, Stoughton Area Senior Center, and local churches.

Identification and proof of address for all members of the household are required for first-time clients. Thereafter, identification for the person listed on the TEFAP form is required each month. Accepted forms of identification include birth certificate, driver's license, social security card (if volunteered), hospital certificate, voter registration card, Wisconsin ID card, report card and lease agreement. Accepted forms for proof of residency include utility bill, lease, current mail, check book, and report card.

Usage of the Food Pantry is twice per month. The food received will provide meals for approximately seven to ten days. In addition a three (3) day emergency food supply will be available four times a year if a client runs out of food before the thirty days are up.

Some of the standard food items we try to provide include: canned vegetables, fruits, pancake mix and syrup, crackers, soups, juice, pork and beans, ravioli, peanut butter, jelly, pasta noodles, potatoes, rice, spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, beef stew, canned chicken breasts, potato/pasta/rice sides, bananas, milk, cheese, yogurt, bread, rolls, a variety of snacks, breakfast cereals and personal items including soap and toilet tissue. Frozen meats are also available- ground beef, chicken and hot dogs. Many of our products are now reduced in fats, sugars and sodium, making healthier selections possible.

We can sometimes provide the following “extras” as a result of donations: baking supplies, ketchup, mayonnaise, gravies, coffee, tea, Asian or Mexican foods, pie filling, honey, biscuit mixes, cake mixes and brownie mixes, ice cream and many other items.

Personal care items we can provide when donated include: toothpaste and toothbrushes, shampoo, deodorant, disposable razors, lotions, Kleenex, diapers, paper towels, napkins, laundry products, and dish soap.

We also provide pantry clients with a voucher for miscellaneous groceries valid at the Stoughton Pick n Save and a second voucher for fresh fruits and vegetables valid at Pick n Save as well.

Additional Information: DUE TO COVID THE PANTRY VOLUNTEERS ASK THAT YOU CALL AND SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR NO-CONTACT PICK UP OF YOUR ORDERS OR TO MAKE A DONATION.
